Grays Rd
On Grays Rd, RockALevel turned a basic backyard into a full outdoor living area with a 50-foot custom composite deck, integrated lighting, and sleek railings. The new deck runs the full width of the house, creating one large, connected space that feels like an extension of the interior rather than just a platform in the yard.

Solid Structure, Clean Lines & A Seamless Step Outside
This project started with a full new deck structure—proper 5ft deep footings, beams, and joists laid out to support a wide, open surface without bounce or sag. The deck is carefully tied into the house, lining up with the existing doors so stepping outside feels natural and effortless. Multiple levels and broad steps out to the lawn break up the long run of the deck and give it a custom, built-in look rather than something off-the-shelf. From the back of the yard, you can see how the deck anchors the house and turns the entire rear elevation into a proper entertaining space.

Composite Decking, In-Step Lighting & Modern Railings
For the surface, we used warm-toned composite decking that gives the look of wood without the yearly staining and upkeep. Picture-framed edges, clean mitres, and tight board spacing keep everything looking sharp up close. Along the main steps, we installed in-step LED lights that softly wash the treads at night—safe, practical, and a big part of the finished “resort” feel. Black aluminum railings frame the outer perimeter and tie in with the privacy screen, giving the deck a modern contrast against the house and greenery.

Separate Zones for Dining, Lounging & Everyday Living
The size of this deck means it isn’t just somewhere to stand—it’s a full outdoor floor plan. One side is set up for lounging around the fire table, surrounded by planters and flowers; the other side is home to a gazebo-covered dining area and barbecue zone. There’s still plenty of open space to move around, host larger gatherings, or just stretch out and enjoy the yard. The Grays Rd project is a great example of how RockALevel uses composite decking, lighting, and thoughtful layout to create a low-maintenance outdoor space that actually gets used from early spring to late fall.
